This is for a deposit for an appointment and this charge goes towards the final install price so it is not money lost. 
I charge this to make the appointment and set the time aside.
I prefer to never have to reschedule appointments, but I do understand that sometimes things happen outside of our control. 
So, if you contact me with more than 1 days notice I will be happy to reschedule to a different day without any extra deposits being made.
If the appointment is cancelled within 24hr of the appointment date and time then this deposit is used to pay for the cancellation and time used to make the appointment. I must charge this to keep cancellations to a minimum. 
 
This is also my minimum labor charge. This is not refundable if you change your mind, but it does apply towards the actual install costs so it is not extra money. It's more of a deposit towards the work to be completed.
